Mitchel Frame has signed a new contract with Celtic.

The Scotland youth international has penned a deal that extends his Parkhead stay until the summer of 2026. The left-back was attracting interest from a number of English Premier League sides, including Newcastle United, Brighton and Crystal Palace. Celtic moved quickly to fend that off and to hand him improved terms.

Frame has come up through the Celtic academy. He is a regular for Celtic’s B team but is also training regularly with Brendan Rodgers’ first-team. The 17-year-old is tipped for big things and to push into the main Celtic squad over the next year or so. Greg Taylor is forst choice in Frame’s position with Alexandro Bernabei as back up. However, the Argentinian was in Rodgers’ bad books earlier this season after sleeping in and missing a team meeting.

He was left out of the squad that travelled to Aberdeen and returned with a 3-1 victory. Bernabei has since returned to the fold, but his spot as second choice could be one Frame is eyeing up.
