Liel Abada has been told to leave Celtic after recent events.

Liel Abada has been told to leave Celtic amid the club’s Israel-Palestine row with the Green Brigade – by one of his international teammates.

The Green Brigade held up a banner in the home clash against Kilmarnock at the weekend which read: “Free Palestine. Victory to the resistance!”, alongside various Palestine flags to send their message out. It led Celtic’s board to release a statement condemning the ultras’ actions, with the club saying that the banners ‘did not represent the club’s views’.

The fan group responded with a statement that doubled down on their ‘unequivocal support for Palestine’, calling on supporters to ‘stand on the right side of history’ as conflict continues to occur in Gaza, a strip of land which is called home by 2.2million people.

Abada, on the contrary, was born in Petah Tikva in Israel, and alongside making 10 appearances for his country, the fan favourite is also of Mizrahi Jewish descent, alongside opting not to play in the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur – which has led Dolev Haziza to condemn the Hoops and urge his fellow compatriot to leave the club.

The Israel international said to his teammate: “Liel Abada… you should have moved on from Celtic a long time ago.

“Go to another club immediately. God will bless you even more if you leave.”
