Just in: The Steelers have named their spectacular quarterback.

NFL: Rudolph knocked out in Steelers loss to Ravens; Colts stun Chiefs | NFL | The Guardian

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t used Mason Rudolph in a game since Kenny Pickett arrived, and with the trade deadline approaching and Mitch Trubisky established as the team’s backup, a move for the veteran quarterback could happen.

The Athletic recently identified a player from each club who is most likely to be traded before the trade deadline, and from the Steelers, beat reporter Mark Kaboly identified Rudolph as that player.

“Rudolph is interesting because he’s an expendable veteran third-string quarterback who is playing out a minimum deal he signed in the spring,” the writer adds. “With Kenny Pickett suffering two concussions and a knee injury in his 17 career starts, the Steelers are unlikely to be actively looking to move Rudolph.

, who is also responsible for Mitch Trubisky. However, if the appropriate deal is presented, general manager Omar Khan has shown that he will not hesitate.”

Rudolph has been mentioned as a trade candidate for the second year in a row. With Pickett and Trubisky on the roster, Rudolph is unlikely to see action this season, but if a team is searching for a veteran with starting experience, the former third-round pick makes sense.

Rudolph has a 5-4-1 record as a starter at Pittsburgh and has thrown 16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in his career.
