Steelers’ Cole Holcomb Carted off Field vs. Titans After ‘Serious’ Knee Injury on TNF

It was a terrible moment at Acrisure Stadium on Thursday night when Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb had to be taken off the field against the Tennessee Titans with a severe knee injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Following the game, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that the knee injury is “serious.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him,” said Tomlin.

Holcomb, 27, was hurt late in the first quarter while pursuing Titans wideout DeAndre Hopkins and collided with teammate Keanu Neal around his left knee.

Amazon’s play-by-play announcer On the broadcast, Al Michaels stated, “This is one of those injuries where we don’t need to show the replay.”

Holcomb immediately clutched his hurt knee, and his teammates encircled him as he was lifted up onto the cart.

Holcomb recorded two tackles in the first quarter against Tennessee before leaving the game. He has 33 total tackles on the season, along with two forced fumbles, and has established himself as a valuable member of the Steelers’ defense.

Holcomb inked a three-year, $18 million contract with the Washington Commanders in free agency this past summer after playing his first four seasons in the nation’s capital with the Washington Commanders.

In the absence of Holcomb, the Steelers will have to rely more heavily on veterans Kwon Alexander and Elandon Roberts at inside linebacker in the future.
