7 NFL Teams That Should Pursue Trade for Raiders’ Davante Adams

Following a Week 3 setback to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders made his intentions apparent.

Adams, at 30 years old and yet to win a Super Bowl, drew the attention of league officials.

“I don’t have time to wait,” Adams told 8 News Now. “It’s nothing personal. It’s a personal matter, but it’s not just about me. It’s not in my nature to sit here and attempt to figure it out over the course of the season.

“You use early games like this to forge our identity.” We’re not doing things correctly to develop a winning culture early in the season, so we have to do something to change that.”

Although Adams’ NFL season in Vegas has yet to reach the one-month mark, there are reasons to assume he may be looking for greener pastures through the trade market.

As a potential last piece to a roster puzzle, here are seven teams that could benefit from adding the superstar, taking system fit and personnel into account. Because Adams is on the second year of a five-year, $140 million contract, cap space was also evaluated, both short and long term.

If you know anything about club owner Jerry Jones, you are aware of his penchant for making big moves.

Following the departure of Amari Cooper in March 2022, CeeDee Lamb has taken over as the team’s top target for quarterback Dak Prescott. With Adams in town, Lamb would see more single coverage, forcing opposition defenses into a ‘choose your poison’ scenario.

As reinforcements, the team signed wideout Brandin Cooks and picked tight end Luke Schoonmaker (second round) this offseason, but Adams would provide a weapon that Dallas lacks.

The Cowboys are above the salary cap for the 2024 season, but the pressure to win this year may push them to move, even if a trade for Adams means less money for extension prospects in the winter.

The Baltimore Ravens have made it a point in recent offseasons to add talent at wideout.

Despite having taken Zay Flowers (2023) and Rashod Bateman (2021) in the first round in the previous three drafts, Adams would be a legitimate top target for Todd Monken’s freshly built offense.

Adams’ ability to dominate man coverage and deflect attention away from Flowers would just raise the offense’s ceiling.

Adams, together with Lamar Jackson’s strong dual-threat abilities, tight end Mark Andrews, and the aforementioned perimeter weapons, might propel Baltimore over the hump in a deep AFC.

The top five wide receivers for the New England Patriots are JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and late-round rookies Kayshon Boutte and Demario Douglas. This season, none of them have averaged more than 50 yards per game.

The Patriots urgently need a receiver like Adams.

They have the most cap space available to any team in 2024, so they can afford to pay the elite wideout.

By far the most talented wideout quarterback Mac Jones has worked with since his time at Alabama, Adams.

The Buffalo Bills have yet to break through, having lost in the AFC playoffs four years in a row.

Adams might be the element that propels the Bills to their first Super Bowl victory.

Combining Adams with Stefon Diggs would keep opposing defensive coordinators awake late at night.

Gabe Davis is a solid backup to All-Pro Stefon Diggs, but Adams is a whole different player who would boost an already explosive Buffalo attack.

The Bills are above the cap for the 2024 season, but aside from Diggs, they have little invested in the WR room and may persuade themselves that having two elite receivers is worth the concessions they’d have to make to be cap compliant.

The New York Giants would benefit greatly from acquiring a three-level weapon such as Adams, and they have the long-term cap space to do so.

For numerous seasons, the wide receiver position has been underutilized, and quarterback Daniel Jones, honestly, needs more skill around him.

Taking speedster Jalin Hyatt on Day 2 of this year’s selection was a terrific place to start, while tight end Darren Waller was a welcome addition to help the aerial attack. But Adams would be the most talented pass-catcher in Giants history since Odell Beckham Jr.

With no definitive date for Saquon Barkley’s return to play (ankle), New York needs additional offensive talent to keep up with the rest of the league.

Since Tyreek Hill was traded to Miami in March 2022, Kansas City has been in need of wide receiver help.

Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice, and Justin Watson have all capitalized on their opportunities, but Adams is in an entirely different league of quality at the wideout position.

Travis Kelce draws attention at the tight end position. With Adams on the perimeter, Patrick Mahomes would not only have another potential Hall of Famer to pass to, but his presence alone would provide Kelce more one-on-one matchups.
