The San Francisco Giants are on a bit of a skid right now, losing seven out of their last ten, and if facing Atlanta’s potent offense and ace Spencer Strider wasn’t a big enough hurdle, they’ve got one more thing to deal with: The absence of their manager.

MLB today announced that manager Gabe Kapler is suspended for one game, as well as fined an undisclosed amount, for returning to the dugout on Tuesday night after an ejection in the fourth inning of San Francisco’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Per the Giants beat writer for NBC Sports – Bay Area, Alex Pavlovic, Kapler wasn’t in the dugout itself but rather the batting cages that are connected to the dugout and considered part of the restricted area for an ejected player or coach.

The former 57th-round pick in 1995 in in his sixth year as manager in MLB, fourth with the Giants. He has a career record of 442-387, including a 64-57 record this season with San Francisco.
