On Sunday afternoon, the Michigan Wolverines learned that they will be taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first round of the College Football Playoff, and it sounds like star running back Blake Corum is excited about the matchup.

During an interview session on Sunday, Blake Corum made it clear that there is “no other team” he’d rather play than Alabama.

“We knew we were going to be locked in,” Corum said according to On3. “We knew we were one seed, two seed. It didn’t matter what seed we were getting coming into this morning. When they popped up and we were the No. 1 team in the nation, there was no better feeling.

“Then they went down to the No. 6 team, we were like, ‘Oh [wow], who we playing?’ And then Alabama popped up. I would want no other team than Alabama to pop up. I love a good matchup. I love a good challenge.”

While some may speculate that Michigan would have preferred to play Florida State, given the injury to star quarterback Jordan Travis, but Corum insists he’s excited to take on Alabama given that the team is “known for winning.”

“I absolutely love it,” Corum said. “You don’t want the easy road. If we played Texas or Washington, those are two great teams as well. Just playing Alabama, someone — a team, a university, that’s known for winning. It feels great.

“It feels great to play Alabama. … I’m super excited.”

We’ll have to see how Corum and the Wolverines perform.
