Stanley Wilson, former Detroit Lions player, dies at 40 in psychiatric hospital
The NFL world is in mourning after the death of former Detroit Lions cornerback Stanley Wilson Jr., who died at the age of 40 after suffering a collapse at the Metropolitan State Hospital of Los Angeles County a few days ago, although the news was only released on Wednesday.
Wilson was the son of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr., and was taken to the hospital on Feb. 1, months after being held in a county jail after being arrested last August for vandalism.
The former player was with the Lions from 2005 to 2007, and had a history of mental disorders dating back years. His August arrest was for breaking into a Hollywood Hills home, bathing in an outdoor fountain and assaulting property.
