New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito said being benched during the 33-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was a reminder of the brutal business of the NFL.

‘It’s tough. It’s just a constant reminder that it’s a business,’ DeVito said. ‘They’re always going to try to find someone to replace you, wherever it is.’

‘At the same time, it is a business. It’s your job. I respect it. There’s no hard feelings one way or another. I was hoping [Taylor] was going to go out there and ball and we win the game. It’s nothing more than that. That’s all it is.’

DeVito was benched at halftime during the loss to the Eagles after the Giants picked up only 101 total yards on offense and three points during the game’s first half.

The Giants went on to score a touchdown on their first possession of the second half before fighting their way back into the game after trailing 20-3 at halftime.

Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor finished the game going 7-of-16 passing for 133 yards, a touchdown, and an interception that came on a Hail Mary during the game’s final play

When asked about who the Giants starter would be moving forward Daboll previously said: ‘I’m just worried about [Monday] here. We’ll talk about that here this week,’ and has yet to comment on who his starter will be moving forward.

DeVito and Taylor both seemed focused on their preparation heading into the week and acknowledged that the decision on who will start against the Los Angeles Rams on New Years Eve is out of their hands.

‘We’re going to work, watch the film and do all that,’ DeVito said. ‘At the end of the day, it’s not me or Tyrod’s decision, it’s the coaches’.’

‘It’s just work to me. I just go out and I’ve been trying to enjoy it every single day,’ he said. ‘I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — you never know when a snap is your last, so I try to go out and make the most of every snap when I’m out there. I appreciate every snap that I’ve had and I just try to keep moving forward.’

Since taking over as the Giants starter following injuries to Taylor and Daniel Jones, DeVito has thrown eight touchdown passes and three interception after six starts.

After joining the Giants as an undrafted free agent after playing in college at Syracuse, DeVito’s Cinderella run hit its peak fame when he upset the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night football to lead New York their third win in a row.
