Eagles news: Injury updates; Dallas Goedert’s slide; Nick Sirianni goes on WIP after host says he might need to be fired

Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith’s status for the Eagles’ playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers remains unclear.

WIP host says Nick Sirianni might need to be fired ahead of interview

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni appeared for his week interview on 94.1 WIP Tuesday morning, just an hour after one of the hosts said he may need to be fired.

“I believe if the Eagles lose to Tampa Bay, Sirianni should be fired,” WIP morning show co-host Joe DeCamara said Tuesday morning. “I also believe if the Eagles beat Tampa Bay, but then get smacked around in the second round, there’s still a pretty damn good chance I’m going to advocate he should get fired.”

DeCamara cited several reasons, including the perception of dissension on the team, Jalen Hurts’ apparent regression, and the switch on defensive play-calling from Sean Desai to Matt Patricia.

“[The Eagles] have wasted a season in a way that does not give me hope for next season,” DeCamara said.

Despite that, DeCamara didn’t bring up the subject of Sirianni’s future in Philadelphia during the interview, opting instead to ask the Eagles’ head coach how he’s dealing with the “heat” over the team’s fading fortunes heading into the playoffs.

“Obviously, I’m pissed that we’re in a little bit of a slump right now,” Sirianni said, noting that his focus is on Monday’s game against the Buccaneers and blocking out any distractions.

“I don’t get paid to lead a team when it’s easy, right?” Sirianni said. “I get paid to lead a team when it’s tough.”
