Sixers Will Acquire Former Miami Heat Guard on Exhibit 10 Deal

The Philadelphia 76ers are bringing on a former member of the Miami Heat. On Saturday, a league source confirmed that the Sixers plan to sign Javonte Smart to an Exhibit 10 contract. Therefore, he’s on pace to play with the team’s developmental squad in the NBA G League.

Smart entered the NBA following a three-year run at LSU. After appearing in 93 games, picking up 76 starts while averaging 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists at LSU, Smart entered the 2021 NBA Draft. The former LSU guard went undrafted.

During the summer of 2021, Smart landed with the Miami Heat for a run in the Summer League. The Heat allowed Smart to play in the G League for the Sioux Falls Skyforce as a team affiliate. As the 2021-2022 season progressed, Smart landed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

During his tenure in Milwaukee, Smart split time with the main roster and the Wisconsin Herd. He made 13 appearances with the Bucks, averaging 12 minutes on the floor. During that time, Smart averaged two points, two rebounds, and one assist while draining 26 percent of his shots.

Throughout the 2022-2023 season, Smart remained in the NBA G League. This summer, he played for the Sixers in the NBA Summer League. During the Sixers’ Las Vegas run, Smart averaged 16 points and six assists. He knocked down 44 percent of his shots.

With Smart inking an Exhibit 10 deal with the Sixers, he’s on pace to join the Delaware Blue Coats for the 2022-2023 season. Last year, the Blue Coats made another appearance in the championship. After coming up short in previous runs, the Blue Coats were victorious for the first time in franchise history. They’ll look to run it back under a new head coach next season.
