Patrick Mahomes continues to set himself up for life after football with surprise move

What's happening with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs? Are critics overreacting to their struggles on offense? | NFL News | Sky Sports

Patrick Mahomes is nowhere near done with the NFL. Already one of the most successful quarterbacks in league history at 28 years old, Mahomes has won three Super Bowl titles with the Kansas City Chiefs since he took over as the team’s starter in 2018 — and he has plenty of time to add to that trophy haul in coming seasons. His goal for 2024 is to become the first player to pilot a three-peat, as the Chiefs are in position to win the Super Bowl for the third year running.

But football is only one facet to Mahomes as a person. Mahomes has ventured into sports ownership through stakes in MLB’s Kansas City Royals and the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, and he also owns small shares of Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer and the Alpine F1 team. He can be seen in “Head & Shoulders” commercials alongside former NFL star Troy Polamalu, and now he is the principal investor in a new venture outside of the sports realm.

In a savvy business venture, Mahomes — as a lead investor for the first time — is capitalizing on the popularity of iced coffee in the United States by launching a brand-new line of ready-to-drink beverages called “Throne Sport Coffee.”

Patrick Mahomes continues to redefine greatness

Mahomes announced the new drinks in a social media post on Thursday morning, explaining that they are “packed with functional ingredients” that will have whoever is drinking it feeling their best.

The new coffee beverages come in four flavors, and Mahomes’ investment stake is only behind that of the line’s founder, beverage industry veteran Michael Fedele. The drinks hit store shelves concurrently with Mahomes’ announcement on Thursday, and they can be found in more than 3,000 locations — locally, in the Kansas City area, at Hy-Vee and Casey’s General Stores.

With this exciting new business venture, Mahomes continues to maximize his present status as the most recognizable player in football and set up himself — and his family — for future success, even when his NFL career comes to an end.
