Two-time Dutch time trial champion Riejanne Markus is moving to Lidl-Trek, where she will stay for the next three seasons, having spent four years with Visma-Lease a Bike.
The 29-year-old rider, who began her career with Parkhotel Valkenburg ten years ago, has been improving at a faster pace in recent seasons and hopes to carry that improvement at the team that has been the closest rival to SD Worx-Protime at the top of the standings since 2020.
Markus stated in the Lidl-Trek announcement, “I’ve admired their pioneering role within women’s cycling for years, providing the same level of support as their men’s team; something that has inspired me deeply.” I’ve always been attracted to teams that are well-organized, and Lidl-Trek is well known for having such teams.
