SUNDERLAND SIGN BLACKBURN ROVERS MIDFIELDER FENTON
Sunderland have completed the signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Natasha Fenton on a professional deal.
The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Fenton has played elite level football with Blackburn Rovers throughout the club’s time in the Barclays Women’s Championship. The player has made 75 appearances for Blackburn Rovers in the league in which she has scored three goals. Fenton captained the side last season while she was also a member of the Blackburn Rovers leadership group.
The 24-year-old is an experienced player at Barclays Women’s Championship level and she will be hoping to use her qualities to help new club Sunderland to develop under their new hybrid playing model.
After joining the Wearsiders, Fenton said “I’m absolutely delighted to be here. I feel like it’s a great Club to be at, seeing how fantastic the facilities are. I know football is massive here in the North East so I’m super-excited to be here and I can’t wait to get going. I felt like this summer was the time for a change and a new challenge for me, Sunderland came calling and that’s what I wanted to do.”
Fenton becomes Sunderland’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
