SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY NOW TRYING TO SIGN 2019 NEWCASTLE UNITED LOANEE

Sheffield Wednesday are now being linked with Achraf Lazaar, a player who was on loan at the Hillsborough Stadium from Newcastle United back in 2019.

According to TMW, Sheffield Wednesday are trying to sign former Newcastle United and Watford left-back Achraf Lazaar.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Boavista are also keen on Lazaar.

Both Wednesday and Boavista are in contact with the 31-year-old left-back and are trying to sign him.

TMW has added that the former Newcastle player is a free agent now after being released by Novara at the end of his contract with the Italian club.

Achraf Lazaar could be a smart signing for Sheffield Wednesday

In our opinion, Sheffield Wednesday would be making a smart signing in Achraf Lazaar.

Lazaar is still only 31 and is a free agent at the moment.

The Morocco international has played in England before and knows what it takes to be successful.

Lazaar played for Wednesday on loan from Newcastle in 2019 and has also featured in the Championship.

Wednesday will play in the second tier of English football next season after winning promotion from League One.

Reece James is the only recognised left-back on the books of Wednesday at the moment.

The Owls clearly need to strengthen that particular department.

Lazaar was on loan at Wednesday from Newcastle for the second half of the 2018-19 season.

The left-back made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for the Owls.

Wednesday will be hoping to at least try to finish in the top six of the Championship table next season.

It is not going to be easy for the Owls, but we all know that the Championship is a notoriously tough league to predict and can throw up all sorts of results.
