bypassed. Despite starting his career at the Red Devils he only went on to make three first team appearances for the club spending much of his time on loan. He had spells at Rochdale, Belenenses, Vitoria de Setubal, Kortrijk, Hearts and Huddersfield Town before being released from his contract.

Following his release he linked up with Dutch club RKC Waalwijk intitially on a one year contract with an option to extend for a further year. His time with the club was blighted by injury, only two games after joining he suffered an Inguinal Hernia which kept him out from August 2021 to February 2022. Upon his return he had to settle for a place on the bench, playing only three more times, conceding 11 goals in the process before he was released.

According to the report he is set to sign for Reading on Monday.

Pereira was at one point talked about as a potential first team option for the future with Manchester United but his career quickly went downhill as his parent club didn’t feel he did enough in his numerous loan spells to be given a chance in the first team set up. Long term goalkeeper David De Gea was still very much the number one and players such as Dean Henderson were ahead of him in the pecking order.

He has played very little football over the last few years and will need to get up to match sharpness quick if he is to contribute significantly to Reading’s League One campaign.
