Transfer news: PL giant made enquiry about ‘mesmerising’ £35m Palace ace
‘One to watch’: Chelsea have now made enquiry about ‘mesmerising’ £35m PL attacker – journalist
Chelsea have now made an enquiry about signing Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze.
That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.
Phillips has reported via his Substack on Tuesday that Chelsea asked about Eberechi Eze when they were in discussions with Crystal Palace about Michael Olise.
The Journalist said that he’s not aware of the outcome of the conversation about Eze, but this is a potential deal that may be “one to watch”.
In addition, the Palace playmaker is believed to have a market value of £35million right now.
Eze is a technically brilliant playmaker that thrives in the No 10 attacking position for Palace.
The 25-year-old Englishman netted 10 Premier League goals last season for his side, growing into a key figure at Selhurst Park.
Our suggestion is that Chelsea could do with another forward option to join before the summer window shuts, especially due to injuries to Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka. Is Eze the right kind of profile, though?
Described as “mesmerising” by teammate Joel Ward (Palace’s official website), Eze would be taking on a completely new kind of pressure in his career if he put on a Chelsea kit.
His rise up the football ladder in England has reached a stage where he’s made a senior England debut, but will that result in him making a high-profile transfer move?
At £35m, Eze could be a potential bargain for a Premier League buyers. However, Chelsea’s frantic activity in the transfer market does begin to make you second guess every deal.

Mauricio Pochettino turns to Arsenal star who snubbed Tottenham and Crystal Palace to solve goalscoring issues
Chelsea have looked at Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun with a report of £50m likely to be enough to secure his signature.
Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a new striker after failing to create clear-cut chances in the second half against West Ham United.
According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun has been contacted with the young United States forward keen on moving to west London.
Crystal Palace and even Tottenham have been linked to the striker in the past and Monaco have already had a £34million bid rejected for the striker turned this summer.
Noni Madueke’s deflected shot was the only chance the Blues hit the target against a 10-player West Ham United team that had failed to hold on to a lead against Bournemouth the previous weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team are now under pressure to take all three points against newly promoted side Luton Town this Friday but manager Pochettino admits the striker situation at the club is not that easy to solve. “It is a difficult situation because we have two strikers in Nkunku and Broja but they are injured,” Pochettino told the press after the defeat to West Ham.
“It is not easy at this moment to find the right profile. We are in the process of working to see if we can add some players in this area.”
Chelsea’s injury record is piling up with Carney Chukwuemeka the latest to join the likes of Christopher Nkunku and captain Reece James.
Pochettino admits the board is doing everything possible to add to the squad even though he is keeping an eye on in-house solutions too.
He added: “For sure, they are working really hard to add some players. If it is not possible, we need to wait until Nkunku and Broja will be ready and we have the help of Mason [Burstow].”
