‘Today’: £43m player is now having a medical elsewhere, just days after holding talks with Chelsea
Bradley Barcola is now undergoing a medical with PSG – just days after holding talks with Chelsea.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the latest on Bradley Barcola after the Lyon No.26 spoke to Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to Foot Mercato – Chelsea stepped up their interest in the Frenchman after missing out on Michael Olise.
Talks continued, with Romano adding that Lyon told Chelsea they wanted players included in any bid for the France Under-21 international as well as cash.
Now – however – Barcola is joining PSG instead of Chelsea.
Romano believes the 20-year-old is currently undergoing his medical examinations with PSG today (Thursday) after flying into Paris overnight.
PSG and Lyon eventually shook hands on a €50m (£43m) fee after two months of negotiations, according to the reliable Italian journalist.
There was apparently a feeling that Chelsea could hijack the deal as Lyon continued to change their asking price – according to Romano – which left PSG feeling very nervous.
However, everything has now been ironed out, and the deal should be announced soon.
Chelsea have already found Bradley Barcola alternative
While there was definitely interest from Chelsea in Barcola – as revealed by Romano and other strong sources – the Blues have already moved on.
Barcola and Palmer operate on the right wing and can also play centrally, so it does appear as if Mauricio Pochettino had both on his shortlist.
Whether Chelsea actually chose to go with Palmer, or simply turned to the 21-year-old after Barcola decided to join PSG, is a mystery.
Nevertheless, Chelsea are getting an outstanding prospect, someone who could develop into one of England’s best forwards within just a few years.
