Wolves confirm deal to sign winger Chiquinho from Estoril for £2.9m | Wolverhampton Wanderers | The Guardian

Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer news from BirminghamLive ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline

Winger Chiquinho has joined Famalicao on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season.

Wolves have confirmed the move for the 23 year old who joined Stoke City on loan in the summer and played four games for the Championship club, including two substitute appearances. He’s instead moved to his native Portugal to sign for Famalicao, giving him the opportunity of experience with more first team games.

Wolves say: “We can confirm Chiquinho has returned from his loan at Stoke City, and joins Famalicao for the remainder of the season. Best of luck, Chiqui.”

Chiquinho joined Wolves from Estoril for £3m in January 2022. He impressed in his first half season at Molineux but then suffered a knee injury in a pre-season friendly with Burnley that kept him out of last season. His move comes in a busy 48 hours for Wolves who have also allowed academy central defender Alfie Pond to join League Two Stockport County on loan.

The club have also been busy recruiting, signing 24 year old central defender Santiago Bueno, 18 year old winger Enso Gonzalez and 21 year old midfielder Tommy Doyle. They are also hoping to complete a deal for Strasbourg’s 25 year old midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde before tonight’s 11 pm deadline. These deals will be at least partly funded by Matheus Nunes’ £53m move to Manchester City that was confirmed this morning.

Wolves return to Premier League action on Sunday when they are away to Crystal Palace. Gary O’Neil’s side will be looking to build on a productive week having won 1-0 at Everton on Saturday and then beaten Blackpool 5-0 at Molineux on Tuesday in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
