Darren O’Dea, currently coaching Celtic’s B team, is being considered for the managerial role at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. SunSport reveal that the Inverness executives are eager to discuss the open position with the 36-year-old Irishman. This comes after the recent dismissal of Billy Dodds, their former manager, due to an underwhelming season start.

O’Dea’s football journey began with Celtic and led him to various clubs including Reading, Ipswich, Toronto, Dundee, and Blackpool. Before transitioning into coaching, he earned 20 caps for Ireland and initially started his coaching career at Motherwell in 2019.

He now shares responsibility for the Celtic B side with Stephen McManus.

As of now, John Robertson and Charlie Christie are temporarily managing ICT, but a quick appointment is anticipated. O’Dea is among the top contenders for the role, alongside Kevin Thomson, Liam Fox, and Neil McCann. Interestingly, former St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson is the bookmakers’ top pick.

Inverness decided to part ways with Dodds merely three months after renewing his contract, following a dismal performance streak that included eight losses and a draw in their last nine matches. A recent 1-0 defeat to Raith Rovers was the tipping point.

Dodd’s led his team out against Celtic at Hampden in June for the Scottish cup final. In what would be Ange Postecoglou’s last game managing Celtic, the bhoys secured a treble at Billy’s expense.
