Newcastle continue to be linked with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. The England midfielder has two years remaining on his contract but Chelsea have been tipped to include him among several players expected to be sold this summer. The Mail suggest a deal for him to move to St James’ Park would therefore be straightforward

Kovacic is also among players Chelsea have been tipped to offload and it is claimed that City boss Pep Guardiola is interested in him.

Mount set to leave, Sun say

The Sun say Mason Mount is on his way out of Chelsea and that the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino will come “too late” to save contract negotiations.

Mount’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires next year and he has yet to agree a new deal.

The Sun say he was offered a one-year extension but it was “flatly rejected” as it was “seen as a ploy simply to raise his transfer fee”.

The newspaper also reports that relations between the club and Mount’s representatives are “at an all-time low”, that he is “set to leave” and that the situation is unlikely to change with Pochettino coming in as head coach.

‘A Blues source’ is quoted as saying: “It feels like it is too late now for Mason. Pochettino is good but he can’t work miracles.

“If he had been brought in when Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel in September then maybe it would be a different story.

“But in ten months there hasn’t been any resolution and other clubs want him. Good luck to Poch and Mason but we’re not hopeful.”
