Coventry City play-off final injury news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins and his Sky Blues put the final tactical touches to their Luton Town game plan

Mark Robins has provided an injury update on his Coventry City players ahead of Saturday’s big play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

The Sky Blues boss admits he’s going to be wrapping his squad up in cotton wool on the training pitch as they put the finishing tactical touches to their game plan against Luton Town.
And the good news is that star man Gustavo Hamer is fit and raring to go after shaking off the knee injury that required a pain-killing injection to enable him to play against Middlesbrough in the semi-final second leg last week.

“Everyone is fine,” said the City manager. “I just have to make sure that we don’t put anyone in harm’s way over the next couple of days. There’s still plenty of work to do but hopefully everyone will be OK, and hopefully we stay clear of any illness.”

One player who remains a major doubt, however, is third choice striker Tyler Walker who underwent an inconclusive scan last week on a muscle issue.

“He’s still not able to train and I don’t anticipate that he’ll be available for me,” conceded Robins, whose only alternative back-up striker after Viktor Gyokeres and Matty Godden is Sean Maguire, who has barely played since joining the Sky Blues on a short-term deal in the January transfer window.

“But until I have conversations (with the medical staff) I won’t know fully the extent. It’s a muscle tear/disruption but however bad that is we have to wait and see how the player responds to it.”

As for Kasey Palmer, who has been back in training for the last week and a half, Robins appeared to rule out any involvement on Saturday. Asked if there’s any chance that the playmaker could feature at some stage in proceedings, or whether he’s just carrying out part of his rehabilitation for next season following his hamstring strain, Robins said: “He’s back in training as part of his rehab.”
