‘Unbelievable’: Coventry city rock man bids Coventry City emotional farewell after exit confirmed

Latest Coventry City news from CoventryLive as defender Michael Rose bids farewell to the club after four years with the Sky Blues

Outgoing Coventry City defender Michael Rose has sent an emotional farewell as he leaves “this unbelievable club” at the end of his contract.

It was announced this week that Rose will be moving on after four years with the Sky Blues, in which time he made more than 115 appearances.

He was a part of the team that won League One in 2019-20 and was also a regular in the Championship for much of the last three years. But he will now be moving on and has sent a message to the club and its supporters on social media.

Posting on his Twitter account, Rose said: “Four years at this unbelievable club comes to an end! From League 1 all the way to the play off final at Wembley. I’ve met some incredible people along the way and not only me but my family also.

“The last couple months have been tough personally but very proud to have played for this proper club. All the best in the future. PUSB.”

Coventry also confirmed that Fankaty Dabo, Julien Dacosta, Todd Kane, Sean Maguire, Michael Rose, Martyn Waghorn and Tyler Walker will all leave the Sky Blues following the conclusion of their contracts.

Coventry City pre-season 2023-24: First two friendly fixtures announced

Coventry City news from CoventryLive as the Sky Blues confirm the first fixtures of their pre-season schedule

Coventry City are preparing for another season in the Championship after falling just short of promotion to the Premier League.

The Sky Blues made an unlikely charge into the top six to secure a place in the play-offs. Mark Robins’ side then went on to reach the final at Wembley, where they were ultimately beaten on penalties by Luton Town following a 1-1 draw.

It was a heartbreaking end to a memorable campaign. However, there is plenty of cause for encouragement going into the summer transfer window ahead of next season.

The retained list has been announced, along with the first summer signing – Jay Dasilva on a free transfer from Bristol City – and plans are also starting to emerge regarding the club’s 2023-24 pre-season schedule.

Coventry have confirmed their first couple of pre-season friendly fixtures – both away from home – against MK Dons and Exeter City. They will visit Stadium MK on Tuesday, July 25 (7.45pm kick-off), before heading further south to St James Park on Saturday, July 29 (3pm kick-off).

More fixtures and further ticket details are expected to announced “in the coming days”.

The 2023-24 Championship season officially kicks off on Saturday, August 5 (with a live televised match likely to be on Friday, August 4). The fixture lists will be released at 9am on Thursday, June 22.
