Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley are ‘showing interest’ in Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen this summer.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the Premier League duo will need at least €15m to sign the highly rated 20-year-old.

Verbruggen has established himself as one of the rising stars in Europe this season after establishing himself as the number one at the Belgian club midway through the campaign.

He’s racked up 37 appearances this season, keeping 13 clean sheets and conceding just 45 goals, an impressive tally for a youngster in his first senior season.

He’s also earned himself a call up to the Netherlands squad, sitting on the bench for the 3-0 win over Gibraltar back in March.

This has earned him plenty of attention, with several sides in the Premier League all thought to be keeping an eye on his progress.

Reports earlier this year had Liverpool and Manchester United in the mix for him and according to HLN, it is now Brighton and Burnley who are ‘showing interest’ in the player.

Burnley’s interest in the player is longstanding, with Vincent Kompany and his team having been keen on him from their time working at Anderlecht.

They tried to get him last summer as part of their rebuild but Anderlecht proved resistant, and they eventually moved on but continued to monitor him nonetheless.

Brighton being keen is new but makes sense given their ongoing strategy of signing young talent to develop. Verbruggen would certainly fit into that category and at €15m, for a price they can more than afford as well.

There’s also been issues in their goalkeeper department this season, with De Zerbi bringing in Jason Steele as a replacement for Robert Sanchez midway through the campaign.

That worked out well but it’s likely the Spaniard will be moved on this summer and perhaps Verbruggen is the man they’re looking at signing as a replacement.
