ExWHUemployee: West Ham ready move to hire Aston Villa transfer chief Johan Lange as Wednesday story rubbished

West Ham are considering hiring Aston Villa chief Johan Lange as their new football director/technical director, according to ExWHUemployee.

Ex added that the Hammers have not appointed German Tim Steidten to the role, despite Fabrizio Romano (14 June) reporting that a deal had been done to bring him to East London.

Romano noted that Steidten is set to become the club’s new technical director, but ExWHUemployee has now rubbished that report.

“As we revealed earlier West Ham are still on the lookout for a football director/technical director with many names being considered,” ExWHUemployee wrote on Patreon.

“Reliable friend of the site Fabrizio Romano has reported that German Tim Steidten, formerly of Leverkusen, has been appointed to the role.

“We checked with our main source, the only source who would know and were told ‘This is not true, although he is on the list of potential appointments. This appointment will not affect the great job Mark Noble has done.’”

The report added that another name mentioned as a potential contender for the position is Aston Villa’s Johan Lange.

Important decision

There is a long list of names linked with the role, with the Hammers set to take their time in appointing someone to this important role.

Patience is required when it comes to making such decisions, particularly with what is at stake further down the line, but West Ham must also be swift in order to avoid losing out on their top target.

The role has become increasingly important in recent years, and West Ham will want to have the best person in place in order to help bring the club to another level.

They certainly have plenty to work on when it comes to transfers, with several high-profile players coming and quickly going over the years after failing to have any impact in claret and blue.

Star midfielder and club captain Declan Rice will dominate transfer proceedings at West Ham this summer, but the Hammers definitely need the right person in place in order to deal with his likely exit and subsequently help spend the fee they get for him wisely.
