View: Huge Luis Sinisterra update is great news at Leeds United for two reasons

Leeds United are said to be trying their hardest to ensure they keep hold of Luis Sinisterra for their promotion push in the Championship.

Leeds are going to be forced to sell some of their star players this summer as they prepare for their EFL return in August.

However, if the club are in a position to do so, they will be looking to retain others in their squad to give them the best chance of returning to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Colombian outlet AS are now reporting this week that the San Francisco 49ers are prioritising Luis Sinisterra as one of the key players they want to keep at the club for a promotion bid.

They add to that with the caveat that the winger is already attracting interest from Germany and Spain this summer.

Here, we look at two reasons why Leeds keeping hold of Sinisterra is huge news…

He would be the best player in the EFL

There would be absolutely no denying that Luis Sinisterra would be the best player in the division next season if he stayed, that is expecting that James Maddison won’t be at Leicester City for much longer.

Sinisterra didn’t have much chance to showcase his quality at Leeds last season, but when he did, he was simply electric and very few teams could cope with his quality on the ball.

Having that sort of weapon in the Championship would be frankly unfair against a lot of sides, knowing what he can do in the top flight and what he did for Feyenoord too.

Instantly, keeping him would boost Leeds’ promotion chances immensely.

One less player to replace

If Sinisterra stays, expect a number of other players to still leave the club, in order to recoup funds to reinvest.

However, if Sinisterra stays, it’s one very important position and player that doesn’t have to be replaced.

We would know that the left-wing position is nailed down with the best in the division, and then the rest of the revenue can be focused on other positions.

It’s safe to say that Leeds have a host of other headaches to address in their squad beyond Sinisterra’s position in the lineup.
