David Moyes’s West Ham United have now been linked with Leeds United defender Robin Koch.
According to Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl on Twitter, West Ham United are competing with Eintracht Frankfurt for the signing of Leeds United defender Robin Koch in the summer transfer window.
The reporter has claimed that West Ham are discussing the potential signing of Koch as a possible replacement for Declan Rice.
England international midfielder Rice has been strongly linked with Arsenal.
Koch, who cost Leeds £22 million (The Daily Mail) in transfer fees when they signed him, can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.
Altschäffl has added that Koch prefers a move to the Bundesliga to joining West Ham.
Should West Ham United bid for Leeds United defender Robin Koch?
In our view, if West Ham United want to find a replacement for Declan Rice, then they should look at someone better than Robin Koch.
Yes, Koch is a very good player, but let us not forget that he was part of a Leeds team that were really poor last season and got relegated from the Premier League.
Moreover, the 26-year-old played mainly as a centre-back for Leeds last season.
West Ham need to replace Rice with a player who is a defensive/central midfielder by trade.
Someone like Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, for example.

Rodgers was sacked by United’s relegation rivals Leicester City at the start of April following four years in charge but the Foxes still joined Leeds in suffering relegation to the Championship. Leicester went down with Dean Smith in charge until the end of the season whilst Sam Allardyce was unable to keep Leeds up after coming in to replace the axed Javi Gracia for the final four games of the season.
Leeds then announced the following week that Allardyce would not be continuing and the Whites remain on the hunt for a new manager ahead of the new Championship campaign. Leeds gave plenty of consideration to Rodgers as the 50-year-old would have been someone that they would have liked to have pitched their project to but the Whites felt that he was always destined for another Premier League job.
The lure of Celtic then proved another possible destination for the ex-Foxes boss upon Ange Postecoglou leaving the club to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new boss. Rodgers has now agreed terms on a long-term deal to take over from Postecoglou in the Bhoys hotseat and the 50-year-old will reportedly become the highest paid manager in the club’s history again upon taking the Celtic reins for a second time.
