Summer revamp gathers pace – signing number four!

Ryan signs on the dotted line for an undisclosed fee

Johnnie Jackson has added to his attacking options ahead of 2022/23 by signing 23-year-old winger Ryan McLean.

Ryan has signed for an undisclosed fee from Hereford after reigniting his career in non league.

Indeed, his progress since leaving boyhood club Shrewsbury at the age of 15 had scouts flocking to the National League North club, but the Dons

won the race for his signature and he has penned a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

Shortly after the deal was completed for Ryan to join us, Craig Cope, our Head of Football Operations, summed up why he fitted the bill.

“Ryan is a player who has been on our radar for a while and with competition for his signature we were keen to complete the signing.

“As a football club, we want to look outside the box in our search for talent to push us forward. Ryan’s profile as a young talent with over 80 senior

games under his belt fitted our requirements. Ryan is a positive and direct wide player who drives forward on the ball and gets fans off their seats.

We are hopeful that we can develop him further over the next couple of seasons so that he’s a real asset for the team.”

After signing for us, Ryan said: “I’ve looked around the stadium and Wimbledon is a club on the up. You can see what the Club wants to do, how

they’re integrated into the community, and all of that seems perfect. I spoke to the gaffer: he’s young and wants to get his teams playing on the

front foot, so that just seems to suit me down to the ground.”

Look out soon on our official channels for a first interview with Ryan since joining the Dons
