Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, looks set to complete a move to Hatayspor this week subject to a medical.
The Star reported recently that the 22-year-old had been offered two three-year deals by Turkish Super Lig outfits, Antalyaspor and Hatayspor, and now it looks like he’s made his decision on where he’ll be playing his football next season.
It’s understood that the former Manchester City youngster will undergo a medical in Turkey on Friday ahead of his proposed switch, and he’s set to commit long-term to Güneyin Yıldızı as they prepare for their 2023/24 top-flight campaign.
Wednesday have offered ‘Fizz’ a new deal to remain at Hillsborough, but with Darren Moore’s exit this week it became even more unlikely that he’d opt to stick around at S6 for the club’s return to the Championship.
Dele-Bashiru played 86 games for Wednesday in his three-season spell, getting nine goals and assists this season in the Owls’ push for promotion out of League One, and will be hoping to hit the ground running in Europe should his move be completed as expected.
As a free agent there will be no transfer fee as such for FDB, however his age and the fact that Wednesday offered him a new deal means that there will be some compensation due – though it remains to be seen how much.
There is still no news, meanwhile, regarding Marvin Johnson – the other player who has been offered a new deal at Hillsborough – however it is thought that there is interest from elsewhere in the wideman as he enters into the final week of his current deal with the Owls.

Steven Gerrard has confirmed he has received a managerial approach from Saudi Arabia but will not be accepting the offer as things stand. The Liverpool legend’s next step into management has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with Sheffield Wednesday named as one of his potential destinations.
Gerrard has been out of work since being dismissed by Aston Villa in October last year following a poor start to the season. Unai Emery was appointed as his successor and oversaw an impressive turnaround at Villa Park, with his team recovering to finish strongly and qualify for the Europa Conference League.
Gerrard enjoyed success in his first managerial post at Rangers, preventing rivals Celtic from winning 10 straight league titles with their Scottish Premiership success in 2021. The 43-year-old has been linked to the vacant post at Hillsborough, following the surprise exit of Darren Moore this week.
Gerrard was quizzed on his future on Monday night while he was on punditry duties for England’s emphatic qualifier victory over North Macedonia at Old Trafford. Al-Ettifaq made an approach to the former Rangers and Villa boss, but it appears the ex-England international is keeping his options.
He told Channel 4: “A lot has been said in the media, a lot of it is not true. I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, which I did, and I have been analysing that over the last couple of days. But, as we stand right now, I won’t be taking that offer up.”
