The Daily Mail recently claimed Bowen can expect to double his £60k-a-week wages at West Ham with just two years remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium.

Behind Declan Rice the 26-year-old is comfortably West Ham’s most important player. When Bowen is on form and firing, he makes the side tick. And his goals and assists are so vital.

He struggled for form in the first half of last season and admitted it was the result of putting too much pressure on himself to impress England boss Gareth Southgate.

But he was one of West Ham’s best players after the turn of the year and ended the season with a respectable 13 goals and nine assists in 54 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

That included the most important goal of his career to date on that unforgettable night in Prague.

It would cost Hammers much more to replace a player of Bowen’s attributes and quality

Now there’s been a new claims that West Ham’s second most important player Bowen is in line for a bumper new £35m six-year deal with a significant pay rise.

Hammers board confidant Sean Whetstone has reiterated the Mail’s previous new deal claims, revealing West Ham are offering Bowen a six-year deal until 2030 on double his £60k salary.

That equates to just under £500k per month and almost £35m over the course of the contract.

While it may sound a big figure in terms of wages because of the length of the deal, it would clearly cost West Ham much more to replace Bowen with a player with the same attributes and ability.

Hardworking Bowen is one of the first names on the team sheet for David Moyes and was linked with Liverpool before Mo Salah signed his new deal.

West Ham want to avoid another Rice situation

“West Ham want Jarrod Bowen to sign a new deal which will make him a Hammer until  2030…” Whetstone said on Claret and Hugh.

“West Ham are ready to reward the winger with a six-figure weekly wage, perhaps doubling his current (£60k pw) wage package, including performance-related add-ons and bonuses.

“The West Ham hierarchy do not want to be in the same situation as Declan Rice, with another star running down their contract.”

Spurs have been linked with Bowen over the weekend in the biggest non-starter transfer rumour you will see all summer. But against the backdrop of this news, it can be assumed that is probably a negotiation technique from his agents PLG.
