This summer, the former first-round pick of the New York Knicks will be free agent.

After being moved (through the New York Knicks) last summer, Obi Toppin is currently enjoying his first season as an Indiana Pacer.

The former Dayton standout shot 40.3% from three-point range and 57.3% from the field in 82 games to finish the season with averages of 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

Toppin also participated in every one of the Pacers’ 17 postseason games as they advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.

Toppin will be a restricted free agent this summer, meaning the Pacers will be able to match any offer.

That being said, given that he was a vital (and dependable) member of one of the final four teams remaining in the NBA playoffs, it will be intriguing to watch if another team makes a sizable offer sheet.

The New York Knicks originally selected Toppin with their eighth choice in the 2020 NBA Draft.

In 283 regular season games, he shot 52.0% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range, averaging 7.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

In 33 NBA playoff games, he has also made appearances (one start).

The Pacers, on the other hand, just finished their greatest season in a long time.

They defeated the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs, earning them the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 47-35 record.

In the Eastern Conference finals, the Boston Celtics defeated the Pacers sweepingly.
