Whitehair spent the entirety of his eight-year career in Chicago after being selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. He became one of the Bears’ best and most versatile linemen, starting at both guard and center throughout his tenure. In 2018, he was named to the Pro Bowl and signed a five-year extension the following offseason.

As the years went on, injuries and poor play began to take their toll. Entering the final year of his deal, Whitehair was released in February in a cost-savings move.

Now with the Raiders, Whitehair reunites with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who spent the last two years in the same position with the Bears. He will likely begin the year as the team’s starting left guard.
